About The Client

Built for one of the world's largest publishing companies, this online marketplace specializes in luxury and branded apparel, accessories, and footwear from renowned designers.

The platform hosts over 750 designers, facilitating successful product sales through a streamlined trading model. Products are automatically imported from designers' websites, enabling a seamless integration of diverse inventories.

This e-commerce solution serves as a cornerstone for the client's digital strategy, connecting high-end fashion creators directly with discerning consumers.

Approach / Work done

The project involved separate Backend and Frontend teams addressing critical issues and implementing planned functionality. Initially, our team inherited poorly written, undocumented code that failed to deliver required functionality and performance. Despite this challenging start, we successfully turned the project around.

We conducted a thorough code analysis, identifying and communicating critical errors to the Project Manager. This led to a comprehensive code rewrite and consensus on the application architecture. The team then focused on implementing functionality enhancements and resolving critical errors.

The site was developed as a Progressive Web Application (PWA), integrating crucial services such as Magento2, Contentful, and Algolia. Additional services like GTM, Listrak, and Rakuten were incorporated to enhance site conversions.

Key implementations included complex product filtering logic, dynamic content creation and editing for pages, and development of custom-designed pages. The project’s scale and complexity were evident in the substantial volume of files and components involved, culminating in a successful website launch.

Project Results

After two years of unsuccessful attempts by two previous agencies, our team successfully launched the client’s eCommerce project. The core focus was on developing PWA interactions with various services and implementing additional functionality.

We rewrote the codebase to adhere to best practices, resulting in a live application requiring minimal post-launch maintenance. The application architecture was significantly reworked, addressing complex integration logic between multiple platforms. A key challenge overcome was the synchronization of large data volumes from multiple sources, their timely indexing, and swift presentation to customers.

Critical errors were eliminated, comprehensive documentation was developed, and overall website performance was enhanced. The successful integration of Algolia search stood out as a particularly impactful feature of the new PWA.

This comprehensive overhaul resulted in a robust, efficient eCommerce platform, finally bringing the client’s long-standing project to fruition.
